CITY COUNCIL RECEIVES SECOND REPORT FROM THE CETF

The Code Enforcement Task Force (CETF) was appointed by City Council in September 2006 to create new, or amend existing, City code and/or State Statute to ensure that adverse impacts to the quality of life for all persons in the City are addressed in a timely and thorough manner while, at the same time, ensuring appropriate due process is afforded all parties.  Their first report was delivered on June 20, 2007.

On August 6, 2008 City Council received  the CETF's second report and its recommendations.

INTERIM MEASURES FOR COMMUNITY CHARACTER PROTECTION

On August 6, 2008, City Council gave final reading approval on a text amendment, (Ord. 2008-001)  that creates a new zoning overlay district called the -CC (Community Character).  This overlay is intended to implement the goals of City Council to minimize the possibility that demolition and construction activity within a residential community would drastically or negatively affect the existing character of a community while in the process of pursuing a design preservation overlay.  City Council also gave final reading approval on a map amendment (rezoning) to include the Sherwood Forest, Forest Hills, and Whaley Street Neighborhoods within the new -CC overlay district.

On August 20, 2008 City Council gave final reading approval on a map amendment (rezoning) to include the Cottontown, Hollywood/Rose Hill, and Shandon Neighborhoods within the new -CC overlay district.

To date, the following neighborhoods have been rezoned with the -CC overlay district; (click the neighborhood to see the boundaries of the -CC overlay).
